The Idea Accelerator
CONCEPT, USERFLOW, UTILITY DESIGN

The Idea Accelerator is an application conceptualised for use on mobile phones and tablets. In essence it is a mind-mapping utility which helps to aggregate content from the web based on the user’s text input. In one search, users are able to draw information from Google, Youtube, Wikipedia, Twitter and Dictionary.com. Results from the search are displayed randomly to aid creative thinking and idea generation. Users can refresh for new results or expand their idea map from a selected word, video, picture or tweet. Additional functions allow users to add notes and sound recordings to each of the nodes. Usage of the application could range from creative idea generation to school assignments and office management. This was proposed to Intel inline with their “Smarter, Faster” product messaging.

Users begin generating ideas by entering a key search word or phrase.

Their search query is then run through different sites and the Idea Map is then randomly populated with a few returns on which the user can expand.

Each node on the map can be refreshed for new content by going through the same automated search process.

Users can expand on a selected node, each time being presented with fresh, random content all still based on their initial search.

The Idea Map can grow as large as the user requires and can be saved and expanded upon at a later time.

Notes and sound recordings can be added to individual map nodes, helping users to keep track of thought tangents.
